Thanks goes out to all of those nominating and recognizing veterans of foreign wars that are honored with a Dove of Peace quilt.
A special thanks goes to the Omaha VFW Post 2503 nominating committee, headed by Commander Doug Whitaker. Those awarded the quilts at the Post have had both direct and indirect combat experience. Each, however, qualifies for recognition because of their on-going commitment to the United States, as well as our community.
Thank you, too, to members of the Nebraska and Iowa community that requested a quilt for a deserving veteran.
If you believe someone is eligible for recognition, feel free to nominate them if their service fits the criteria set up in the Dove of Peace mission statement, below:
Quilts are awarded to veterans of foreign wars.
Each quilt honors their sacrifice and dedication to the United States.
Their service and valor helps us maintain our rights and responsibilities,
but also prevents us from being unduly influenced by hostile entities.
The service provided by honored veterans, as well as so many that we
cannot thank on a personal basis, is indeed, noble and respected.
Regardless of the duty or assignment preformed during the war,
please know every veteran that served the
United States during a foreign war
is a hero!
Quilts are becoming more complex and time consuming. Therefore, Dove of Peace is seeking other quilters interested in honoring veterans that continue to give back to our community.
